First Presbyterian Church of Bonita
Springs, Florida
Owner: 1st Presbyterian Church of
Bonita Springs
Architect: Alliance Design Group
Completed: July 2001
In 1999, the 1st Presbyterian Church of Bonita
Springs retained Gary Wilkes, Inc. as
Construction Manager for their multi-phased
building expansion. A construction plan was
estimated with the owner, and the project began.
Sanctuary was 38,000 SF. Sanctuary consists of
new water mains, sewers, grease trap, and
state-of-the-art lift station. Project began in
May with the parking lot and completed the
Sanctuary in July 2001.
The upholstered wood cherry pews surround the
alter which is accented with Jerusalem stone.
The architectural treatment of the ceiling
provides concealment of such things as speakers,
theatre lighting, microphones, heating and
cooling. The lighting system is controlled by
computer programming with a dimming switch which
is coupled to a digital inverter, providing
emergency lights throughout the Sanctuary.
The balcony which seats 400 overlooks the main
floor with no columns to obstruct the view
of the worshiper.
